Nike is releasing its first collection of digital sneakers. It's NFT on Polygon - and they mark the beginning of a new era.
NIKE announced the launch of its first collection of unplayable tokens on its swoosh platform last November, just days after what should have been a major industry-wide crack. The world's largest sportswear group will debut a collection based on the iconic Air Force 1, which will also appeal to collectors and include some must-have goodies.
Things will begin soon, which could be an interesting path not only for NIKE, but also for consumer fashion brands that, unlike those already successful in this sector, are not perceived as overly luxurious. And all this despite the fact that NFT's definition doesn't seem to suit NIKE too much.
NFT's reimagining of the Air Force 1
One of the most iconic models in the brand's history will be introduced in a digital version: the Air Force 1. The model, created in 1982 and reimagined in various ways over the years, will soon be available in a digital version as well.
There aren't many details about the operation yet, at least through the official Twitter account SWOOSH, which will be the Made in Nike platform - powered by Polygon Matic - that will be used to launch Nike's first digital collection.
NIKE isn't the first, but it could be the first
NIKE is certainly not the first brand to launch such an initiative. Before it, brands like Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and many others, even with much lower price points, have already enjoyed considerable success. However, we believe that NIKE could be the first in the other direction, that is, a brand that could lead the way in expanding the opportunities offered by NFT to major apparel brands, sports and others. NIKE's reach is unparalleled-just as the legitimacy for the sector that will emerge from this choice of an American brand will be unparalleled.
Let's see what the reception from the public will be, both among cryptocurrency and non-cryptocurrency token enthusiasts, and among those who might take the opportunity to address this NIKE collection for the first time.
