GoStudent conducted the GoStudent Future of Education Report in Europe to better prepare the younger generation, understand what young people and parents expect from education, and how to improve the process. According to GoStudent, technology is used effectively in all aspects of people's lives. While technology is thought to provide convenience in the processes of daily life, its impact on educational life is also on the agenda.
According to a recent GoStudent study on Generation Z and Generation Alpha, the impact of technology on the future of education and learning is very serious. The study shows that Generation Z and Generation Alpha require comprehensive training for knowledge and practical skills. 91% of young people say a job they enjoy is their top priority. Three-quarters of young people (75%) want more use of technology in their education. 73% of young people believe technology can make learning easier, and 69% say it can foster creativity. 59% of young people want to learn more with artificial intelligence in the next five years.
Artificial intelligence is already on the agenda, especially with the release of ChatGPT, which recently caused a stir and controversy with its ability to mimic human writing.
Young people are also eager to learn more about technology in school: according to research, one in two want to study video game programming (51%) or artificial intelligence (50%). Artificial Intelligence promises to be more and more present in our lives and has the potential to change huge areas of activity. When asked about the use of technology in the classroom, 75% of young people want their school to include more technology in the curriculum to prepare them for the future, and 76% want to be trained to use it. Only half of young people (52%) think their teachers are good with technology and encourage its use. Two-thirds of students also think they are well taught how to use technology.

Metaverse will play a key role in improving learning in the coming years

The Metaverse appears to have a wealth of opportunities for learning, such as making learning interactive, allowing children to virtually visit historical periods, interact with foreign vendors at fruit markets, and conduct experiments in world-class laboratories. According to the study, 80% of children in Europe find using Metaverse for education useful, and remarkably, this figure is not insignificant among parents either. Sixty-eight percent of parents in Europe believe that using Metaverse for educational purposes would be beneficial, while 64% of young people think Metaverse would make education more fun, and 63% think Metaverse would allow them to test work in a virtual world before choosing a future job in real life. In addition, 60% of young people think Metaverse will allow them to learn from inspiring people other than school teachers, and 43% think Metaverse will replace physical classrooms. Felix Oshwald, co-founder and CEO of GoStudent, gave his opinion of the study in a statement, saying: "Generation Z and Alpha are a motivated generation that we can't help but be interested in. Generation and Alpha are a motivated generation with big dreams. As part of the Education for the Future Report study, we listened to thousands of children across Europe to find out what they want from education, how they want it to develop, and what their expectations are. We found that young people are inspired by new technologies and want their education to go beyond the four walls of the classroom to develop life skills and interests that will prepare them for adult life. They want more holistic learning. By understanding the needs of young people and families, we at GoStudent can unlock each child's potential and create a better education model for the future.
