Scammers are using Google to phish PumpSwap

There has been an increase in the number of fake Google search ads targeting PumpSwap users, according to researchers at Scam Sniffer. The attackers create fake ads that appear at the top of search results for the query “pumpswap.” By clicking on these links, users are taken to fake websites that mimic the official PumpSwap resource.
Google Ads Phishing Schemes
Phishing schemes of this kind are not new to the cryptocurrency community. There have been previous reports of fraudsters using Google Ads to promote fake versions of popular crypto wallets such as MetaMask and Phantom App.
The attackers create clone websites that are outwardly indistinguishable from the originals and prompt users to enter their personal information or connect digital wallets. After that, hidden scripts are activated that empty the victims' accounts.
It is important to note that fraudulent sites often use domains that are very similar to official ones, with minor changes that are difficult to notice at first glance. For example, instead of “uniswap.org”, “unıswap.com” may be used. Such tricks mislead users and contribute to the success of phishing attacks.
Recommendations for online users
Users are advised to be extra vigilant when clicking on links from search engines. Before entering any data, you should carefully check the URLs of sites. It is recommended to use bookmarks or directly enter the addresses of official services to avoid getting to fake resources.
Advertising service providers such as Google must strengthen their efforts to detect and block fraudulent ads. Despite the efforts made, cases of phishing links continue to occur, which highlights the need for constant monitoring and improvement of security systems.
