Trust Wallet will reimburse cryptocurrency users $170,000 in losses

In a series of tweets, the official non-Binance multicurrency wallet Trust Wallet disclosed two likely exploits that resulted in cryptocurrency losses totaling $170,000 for its users.
Specifically, users who created their wallet addresses between Nov. 14 and Nov. 23, 2022, using a browser extension were exposed to the vulnerability. Not only that, the vulnerability breach resulted in two exploits and a total loss of $170,000.
Currently, 500 crypto-addresses remain vulnerable and a total balance of $88,000 is still outstanding.
Trust Wallet discovered the problem as part of its bug bounty program. A security researcher reported the WebAssembly vulnerability in the Wallet Core open-source library in November 2022.

Trust Wallet and fixing the $170,000 cryptocurrency crash

Continuing with the information published on Twitter, Trust Wallet clarified that the delay in this announcement was due to the need to prevent other immediate attacks.
That is why it is believed that the cryptoincident has already been corrected. Affected users have been instructed by Binance Wallet to immediately transfer their refunds to a new Trust Wallet address to be created.
Not only that, the company said that it has been aggressively sending out 1-1 notifications to the compromised addresses over the past few months, resulting in significant funds being transferred to safe and booming addresses.
However, the two disclosed exploits do not apply to wallet addresses created between Nov. 14 and Nov. 23, 2022. It is likely that the second exploit was, in fact, discovered in late December 2022 and late March 2023.

Support for 4.5 million assets, including NFT

Binance cryptocurrency wallet currently supports 65 blockchains such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Tron, Ripple, and has 4.5 million assets including dApps and NFTs.
Trust Wallet is also a custodianless wallet, meaning it allows users to own and control private keys to access their personal funds. There are currently 10 million active users on the platform.
The emergence of Trust Wallet for bitcoin storage came just after the collapse of the FTX crypto exchange.
Perhaps a coincidence, but it is still November 2022. During this period, Changpeng CZ Zhao also took to Twitter several times to promote Trust Wallet.
Not only that, even the wallet token, TWT, seemed to soar in those days, going from $1.1 to $2.2 in 24 hours to $2.3 the next day. Over time, this increase did not persist.
